Job Description
We are a small, local, relationship-focused CPA firm seeking an experienced tax professional who enjoys hands-on tax work, problem-solving, and direct client interaction. This role is ideal for someone who prefers preparing and reviewing returns, resolving tax issues, and advising clients rather than managing large teams. Responsibilities Prepare and review entity (1065, 1120, 1120S) and individual (1040) tax returns Handle a wide range of advanced individual tax matters including, but not limited to:
Equity compensation (e.g.
stock options, restricted stock, etc.)
Digital Currency (e.g.
cryptocurrency)
Schedule C businesses
Schedule E rentals (short-term and long-term)
Multi-state filings
Publicly traded partnership (PTP) K-1s Prepare tax projections and planning analyses Resolve IRS and state tax notices Assist clients with prior-year unfiled returns Research federal and state tax issues Conduct client consultations and communicate recommendations clearly Regional Tax Expertise Washington and Oregon tax and worker dynamics Remote work issues involving Oregon-based employers and Washington residents Railroad and transportation employee tax matters City of Portland, Multnomah County, and TriMet taxes Qualifications EA or CPA license required 5+ years of recent tax preparation experience Strong individual tax knowledge and research skills Comfortable working directly with clients Strong communication and collaboration skills The ideal candidate will enjoy preparing between 150-200 returns a year, with a heavier workload during tax season, and building long-term client relationships.
