In this role, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and compliant tax returns for individual and business clients, ensuring adherence to current tax laws and regulations. Your expertise will help clients maximize their refunds and minimize liabilities while maintaining the highest standards of integrity and professionalism. Responsibilities Prepare federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, trusts, and non-profit organizations with precision and attention to detail. Conduct thorough review of financial documents including income statements, balance sheets, receipts, and other supporting materials to ensure accuracy. Stay current with evolving tax laws, regulations, and compliance requirements to provide clients with reliable advice and optimal tax strategies. Assist clients in estate planning by providing guidance on wills, trusts, and estate law considerations relevant to their tax situations. Utilize various accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, and other financial tools to facilitate efficient data entry and report generation. Reconcile accounts payable and receivable, perform balance sheet reconciliations, and prepare detailed financial reports for review. Support clients with complex tax scenarios involving mergers & acquisitions, securities law considerations, or private equity investments by applying technical accounting principles such as GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles). Requirements Proven experience in tax preparation or related fields such as public accounting or corporate accounting with a strong understanding of tax concepts including tax accounting, debits & credits, and double entry bookkeeping. Familiarity with regulatory reporting standards like SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) and the ability to interpret financial statements accurately. Knowledge of estate planning tools including wills, trusts & estate law; experience in non-profit accounting is a plus. Proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage or similar platforms; strong skills in financial analysis and account reconciliation. Solid understanding of financial concepts including GAAP standards, balance sheet reconciliation, general ledger accounting, budgeting, and asset management. Excellent analysis skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data for decision-making purposes. Strong communication skills for preparing clear financial reports and providing client guidance on investment strategies or financial planning. Ability to handle multiple priorities efficiently while maintaining accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
