Teller

Position Purpose:

This position is responsible for the delivery of exceptional customer service through the efficient management of customer interactions. It assumes a role in developing new customer relationships as well as enhancing existing relationships.

Essential Functions and Basic Duties:

Receive commercial and consumer checking and savings deposits; verify cash and endorsements; issue receipts. Place holds and memo-posts when necessary; accept payments on loans and lines of credit. Cash checks; verify endorsements, validity and availability of funds. Identify counterfeit currency. Count and roll loose coins. Sell official checks; ensure proper reporting information is recorded for redeemed savings bonds. Identify counterfeit checks and currency. Prepare change orders for customers. Assist in processing mailed envelopes and night depository bags. Sell and cross-sell bank services. Assist customers with safe deposit box entry if applicable. Assist customers with balance inquires, printouts, and copies. Review over/short records for accuracy. Operate under proper security precautions. Maintain accurate records of official checks and sustain appropriate inventory levels. Perform a variety of clerical functions such as: sorting, counting and wrapping currency; verify straps, maintain records; assist with resolution if discrepancy between cash and general ledger when notified by deposit support. Buy and sell money in appropriate quantities to vault as necessary. Opening and closing of teller work area. Ensure teller work is processed and cash boxes are secure. Maintain the highest level of confidentiality with all information obtained. Comply with all federal and state laws and regulations. Support management's commitment to improving the quality of the bank's financial and regulatory performance. Comply with all bank and personnel policies and procedures including but not limited to policies and procedures regarding the Back Secrecy Act. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education:

A high school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience:

Previous cash handling experience preferred. Previous banking experience preferred.

Knowledge:

Thorough knowledge of all teller procedures and policies and well as general bank operations. Thorough knowledge of bank products and services.

Skills/Abilities:

Must present a professional image in dealing with customers, interdepartmental and external representatives. Detail oriented with a high degree of accuracy. Strong sales and service skills; demonstrated ability to positively persuade customers and to identify and satisfy their needs. Basic math skills. Strong written and verbal skills. General clerical skills and ability to use various office equipment. Demonstrate a "TEAM" attitude at all times. Have a high degree of interpersonal skills, attitude, judgment, communication and the ability to effectively interact with customers and employees. Ability to exercise personal and professional responsibility and work with very limited direction.
