LOCATION
This position will service multiple locations across Indianapolis to support staffing gaps and personal time off for our branch staff with a home office location of 7101 East 56th St., Indianapolis, IN 46226.
PURPOSE:
The primary purpose of this position is to fulfill Financial Center First CU's vision of inspiring financial wellness. The position must deliver high quality service to both internal and external members by supporting and promoting our values to Care, Listen, Learn, Solve, and Act. Responsible for accurately processing financial transactions and being an effective source of information for members: in lobby and at the drive-thru window. Provides friendly, professional, confidential and effective assistance to members and other Credit Union employees, assuring a positive member experience. Identifies and capitalizes on opportunities to promote and refer new services or products, that will benefit the member's financial life. What success looks like during the first three months Able to run transactions Runs, reconciles, and balances cash drawer effectively Understanding of products and services offered at the Credit Union Must understand the value and importance of referrals Understanding of systems utilized at the Credit Union (Keystone, MyOffers, etc.) Adherence to company policies and procedures Comfortable having conversations with members and referring products
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Demonstrate efficiency with financial transactions for checking, savings and borrowing: Receiving funds Posting transactions and pays out funds as requested. Verbally confirm intended transactions with members to assure needs are met. Entering transactions into Credit Union system, this includes: Recording all transactions and producing member receipts. Receiving loan payments and savings deposits from member. Addressing inquiries on accounts. Recording amounts and dates of payments and other significant information. Checking member calculations and validating checks and/or counting cash payments. Identifying and capitalizing on opportunities to promote and refer new services or products that will benefit the member's financial life. Research, troubleshoot and resolve member and internal inquiries regarding policies, practices and products. Refer member to appropriate staff member, if needed. Balancing cash drawer daily to assure accuracy in transactions and notifying supervisor regarding any outages. Educating and coaching members on how to use electronic services (online, mobile and ATM) so they can bank conveniently. Assisting with completing opening and closing procedures such as: Processing night drop, ATM, and daily MSR scanning. Daily opening and closing of teller terminal, maintaining proper amount of currency in drawer, accounting for assigned cash, checks and other monetary instruments and transactions. Maintaining neat and orderly work area and ensures that all negligible and confidential records are properly secured. Adhering, at all times, to applicable policies, including, check cashing, identification and security. Participating in community events supported by the Credit Union. Performing other duties as commensurate with this position.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Skills:
Customer service and cash handling experience preferred. Be comfortable handling large amounts of cash and working at computer terminals. Be able to achieve proficiency and knowledge of relevant Credit Union systems, Credit Union products and services within 90 days. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and demonstrate a thorough understanding of customer service. Trustworthiness and the ability to act with integrity. Be accurate and attentive to detail. Show patience, diplomacy and tact when serving members and other Credit Union staff. Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.
ADA REQUIREMENTS
Physical Requirements Perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and regularly lifting cash box of up to 10 lbs. and coin bags up to 30lbs on occasion. Be capable of climbing / descending stairs in case of an emergency situation. Be able to operate routine office equipment including telephone, copier, facsimile, and calculator. Be able to stand for long periods of time. Be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary. Be able to work extended hours whenever required or requested by management. Be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance. Working Conditions Be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with minimal noise. Mental and/or Emotional Requirements Able to perform job functions independently or with limited supervision and work effectively either on own or as part of a team. Able to read and carry out various written instructions and follow oral instructions. Able to speak clearly and deliver information in a logical and understandable sequence. Able to use basic math skills and spell accurately up to a high school graduate level. Capable of dealing calmly and professionally with numerous different personalities from diverse cultures at various levels within and outside of the organization and demonstrate highest levels of customer service and discretion when dealing with the public. Able to perform responsibilities with composure under the stress of deadlines / requirements for extreme accuracy and quality and/or fast pace. Able to effectively handle multiple, simultaneous, and changing priorities. Capable of exercising highest level of discretion on both internal and external confidential matters.
