Full Job Description Position Description:
The Division Controller is a senior financial leadership role responsible for performing and overseeing all accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, and compliance activities within Chidalyuq, LLC. This is a hands-on role that combines strategic financial leadership with direct execution of core accounting functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger management, and audit support. The Controller serves as a strategic financial partner to division leadership and plays a critical role in driving fiscal accountability and operational efficiency. The Controller also serves as a key liaison with the parent company finance organization at Salamatof Native Association, Inc., supporting consistent application of GAAP and consolidated reporting standards across the Salamatof family of companies.
Reporting Relationships:
The Division Controller is a member of the Chidalyuq leadership team and supports the President in all financial aspects of running the business, including budgeting, forecasting, operational decision support, pricing, project financial performance, and day-to-day financial management. Performance evaluation, goal setting, compensation decisions, and day-to-day priorities are owned by the President of Chidalyuq, LLC. There is a dotted line relationship with the SNAI CFO and Corporate Controller.
Specific areas of coordination include:
Adherence to GAAP and consistent application of accounting policies across the Salamatof family of companies Monthly close timelines, intercompany reconciliations, and consolidated financial reporting Audit coordination and support Alignment of chart of accounts, financial systems, and reporting templates Treasury and capital structure coordination with the parent
Duties and Responsibilities:
Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and General Ledger Directly process and manage accounts payable, including invoice review, coding, approval routing, and timely vendor payments. Directly process and manage accounts receivable, including customer invoicing, collections follow up, and cash application. Perform monthly bank reconciliations, account reconciliations, and intercompany reconciliations. Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and adjusting entries as part of the monthly close process. Manage and maintain the division's general ledger and ensure integrity of financial data. Maintain organized, audit ready documentation for all transactions and reconciliations. Financial Reporting and Analysis Prepare and deliver accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP. Analyze financial results and provide variance analysis with commentary to division and parent leadership. Prepare divisional financial reporting packages for inclusion in the consolidated financial statements of Salamatof Native Association, Inc. Coordinate with the Parent CFO on technical accounting matters and consistent application of accounting policies across the Salamatof family of companies. Budgeting and Forecasting Lead the annual budgeting process for the division, collaborating with department heads to develop detailed operating and capital plans. Prepare rolling forecasts and long range financial projections. Monitor budget to actual performance and identify cost saving opportunities. Coordinate budget timelines and templates with the parent finance organization to support consolidated planning. Audit and Compliance Serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors at the division level. Prepare audit schedules, supporting workpapers, and requested documentation. Respond to auditor inquiries and resolve audit findings in coordination with the Parent CFO/Controller. Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulatory requirements. Maintain up to date knowledge of accounting standards and regulatory changes. Internal Controls Design, implement, and maintain a robust system of internal controls to safeguard company assets. Monitor adherence to internal controls and recommend improvements as the division grows. Coordinate with the parent finance organization on enterprise wide control standards. Treasury and Cash Management Oversee cash flow management for the division and prepare cash flow forecasts. Optimize working capital utilization at the division level. Approve and process vendor payments and payroll disbursements in accordance with company policy. Coordinate with the parent finance organization on treasury matters, distributions, and capital structure. Banking relationships are managed at the parent level. Leadership and Collaboration Develop the divisional accounting function over time, including hiring and developing additional accounting staff as the business grows. Partner with operational leaders to provide financial insights that support strategic decision making. Collaborate with the parent corporate finance team on enterprise wide initiatives, including system implementations and process improvements. Present financial results and forecasts to executive leadership as required.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field required. Minimum of 10 to 15 years of progressive accounting and finance experience, with at least 3 years in a controller or senior financial management role. Hands-on experience performing accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and month end close functions. Experience in a multi entity or divisional corporate environment preferred. Prior experience with financial accounting systems implementation. Deep knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting standards, and regulatory compliance requirements. Exceptional analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools. Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to present complex financial information clearly to non financial audiences. High degree of integrity, discretion, and professional judgment. Ability to operate effectively within a matrixed reporting structure, balancing division priorities with parent company standards. Comfort with both strategic financial leadership and direct execution of day-to-day accounting work.
Physical Demands:
This position operates in a professional office environment. The role primarily involves sitting at a desk, working on a computer, and using standard office equipment. The Division Controller may be required to work extended hours during month end, quarter end, and year end close cycles, as well as during audit periods. Occasional travel to other company locations or client sites may be required.
