Assistant Controller

E-Box is a growing medium size manufacturing business located in Alabaster, AL shipping product to all 50 states. We are looking for a junior controller to learn and grow under veteran leadership. This individual will be groomed to take the place of our current Controller, who will retire in less than 10 years.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in the preparation and analysis of timely financial statements and reports.
• Support month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
• Reconcile and maintain balance sheet accounts, including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses, and fixed assets.
• Collaborate with various departments to gather financial data and provide insights for decision-making.
• Support and ultimately manage quarterly inventory counts and reconciliation.
• Assist in the implementation and improvement of internal controls and financial procedures.
• Prepare and review journal entries to ensure accurate recording of financial transactions.
• Support the preparation for audits and work with external auditors as needed.
• Contribute to financial analysis and variance reporting to identify areas for improvement.
• Stay informed about changes in accounting regulations and ensure compliance.
• Assists with daily and monthly cash and bank reconciliations as required.
• Assists with periodic billing and assists in collection of Accounts Receivable as required.
• Assists with Accounts Payable to ensure liabilities are paid in a timely manner and properly recognized in the appropriate accounting period.
• Assists Controller in providing financial analyses as needed, in particular for capital investments, pricing decisions.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting.
• Audit work experience in manufacturing.
• 5 years of relevant experience in accounting and financial reporting.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, ERP financial software and database report writing.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management abilities.
• Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
