Job Description

mtmoves.com McCorquodale Transfer, LLC is seeking an experienced Controller to oversee the company's accounting operations, financial reporting, and payroll administration. This position is responsible for managing the day-to-day accounting functions, ensuring accurate financial records, processing weekly payroll, maintaining compliance with accounting standards, and providing financial insight to support business decisions.
Responsibilities:
Process and submit weekly payroll, ensuring accuracy and timely payment of employees. Maintain payroll records and ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local payroll regulations. Oversee all accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger, and bank reconciliations. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Manage the month-end and year-end close processes. Maintain the general ledger and ensure accuracy of financial records. Develop and maintain internal controls and accounting procedures. Monitor cash flow and assist with budgeting and forecasting. Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations. Coordinate annual audits and work with external auditors and tax professionals. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax requirements. Analyze financial performance and provide recommendations to leadership. Assist with strategic financial planning and operational decision-making. Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules. Support insurance audits, banking relationships, and other financial reporting requirements. Experience processing multi-state payroll is preferred. Supervise accounting staff, as applicable. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required. CPA preferred but not required. 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with experience in a Controller or senior accounting role preferred. Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting. Experience with accounting software and Microsoft Excel. Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Strong communication skills and the ability to work with leaders across the organization. Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality. Preferred Experience Experience in transportation, logistics, warehousing, or service-based industries. Experience with ERP or accounting systems. Experience managing audits and tax filings. Pay:
$100,000.00 - $170,000.00 per year
