Job Description
Interim Assistant Controller Birmingham, AL (Onsite/Hybrid) We are partnering with a company in the Birmingham area to identify an Interim Assistant Controller to step into a key leadership role within the accounting function. This position will oversee financial reporting and the month-end close process while supporting the team during a transition period. This is a great opportunity for a hands-on accounting leader who can operate independently, provide structure, and drive consistency across accounting operations. Key Responsibilities Lead the monthly close process and ensure timely, accurate financial reporting Oversee account reconciliations and review procedures Support and guide the accounting team on day-to-day activities Assist with audit coordination and external reporting requirements Research and resolve technical accounting matters Maintain and enhance internal controls and accounting processes Partner with leadership on ad hoc projects and financial initiatives Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance CPA required 7+ years of progressive accounting experience (public + industry preferred) Prior experience leading or mentoring accounting staff Strong knowledge of financial reporting, consolidations, and technical accounting This is an immediate need for a consultant who can step in quickly and provide leadership, structure, and technical expertise.
