Job Description

Job Description Summary As a Regional Controller working for Taylor Morrison, you will be responsible for working alongside the Chief Accounting Officer and Corporate Controller to lead the corporate accounting function as it relates to your assigned divisions, prepare and review the monthly and quarterly financial statements, establish and maintain accounting policy across the organization, and provide support to the financial reporting function. Job Details We trust that as a Regional Controller you will: (responsibilities) Oversee the monthly close process for assigned divisions, including GL and AP period controls and financial statement accuracy Review divisional monthly and quarterly financial reporting deliverables and prepare consolidated financial statements Serve as the primary liaison for assigned divisions, cultivating effective partnerships with division accounting teams, proactively resolving accounting questions and discrepancies, and managing open items throughout the accounting cycle Assist Corporate Controller in corporate monthly financial close and consolidated financial statement preparation, and support Chief Accounting Officer with key reports and presentations to executive management Maintain Finance policy compliance across all divisions and support field finance staff with accounting best‑practice guidance Oversee division accounting for land transactions including debt and any imputed interest, land banking and related interest, payroll expenses and payroll/bonus accruals, fixed assets, leases, and related areas, and deliver technical accounting research in a written format on complex issues Analyze changes in account balances to ensure financial statements are complete, accurate, and in accordance with GAAP Support financial reporting by providing and preparing key financial reporting notes, MD&A, statements, and implementing new accounting guidance and disclosures; perform technical accounting and disclosure research for potential and actual significant and non-routine transactions Assist in the maintenance of internal controls documentation related to financial reporting and accounting to ensure compliance with internal controls Lead and develop senior and staff accountants for your divisions, with responsibility for performance management and professional growth Collaborate with Corporate Controller and other departments to identify accounting improvements and support special projects, M&A integration, and process enhancements Coordinate with internal and external auditors on audit activities and support audit requests There will also be opportunities to partner with other departments on certain projects, project manage key opportunities (i.e. OneStream, acquisition integration and diligence, financial reporting improvements).
What you will need:

  • 7+ years of experience, preferably in homebuilding, land development, and/or construction industry
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and experience operating within a SOX-compliant environment
  • Experience with accounting and finance systems and advanced Excel skills
  • Demonstrated experience managing, coaching, and developing accounting and finance professionals
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or MBA; active CPA candidacy acceptable (Preferred) Real estate or homebuilding industry knowledge (Preferred) Prior experience in a multi-entity accounting environment (Preferred)
FLSA Status:
Exempt Will have responsibilities such as: Office or non-manual work, which is directly related to management or general business operations Act as a primary component of which involves the exercise of independent judgment and discretion about matters of significance

Physical Demands:
