Compensation:
$145,000 - $175,000 (DOE) About the Company This is a rapidly growing residential solar energy company with operations across multiple states and approximately 700 employees. The company is moving towards continued expansion and positioned as a leader in the solar energy space, delivering sustainable solutions nationwide. Position Overview This client is seeking a dynamic and highly analytical Controller to lead core accounting operations and strengthen financial oversight during a period of continued growth. This role is a key backfill for an existing team and will play a critical role in bringing structure, insight, and accountability to the finance function. The Controller will report directly to the CFO and partner closely with cross-functional stakeholders, including technology and operational leadership, to ensure accurate financial reporting and scalable processes. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage general ledger (GL) accounting operations Oversee and drive the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes Ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of financial reporting Analyze financial data and identify trends, variances, and areas of improvement Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), including operational metrics (e.g., AP turnover, billing workflows) Review and improve processes within systems such as Bill.com to avoid bottlenecks Ensure strong internal controls and perform self-review to validate completeness and accuracy of financials Collaborate with stakeholders across the organization, including holding company leadership Partner closely with the technology team to optimize systems and reporting capabilities Manage and develop a small team (3 direct reports: Senior Accountant, Accountant and Payroll Accountant) Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred) 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership experience Strong proficiency in NetSuite ERP (highly preferred) Proven ability to generate reports, analyze data, and identify discrepancies or trends Experience working in high-growth, fast-paced environments Strong understanding of financial statements, close processes, and internal controls Demonstrated ability to think beyond the GL and evaluate operational efficiency Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills Strong communication and collaboration skills across departments What We're Looking For A hands-on, detail-oriented leader who can also think strategically Someone comfortable operating in a high-demand environment with shifting priorities A proactive problem-solver who can identify gaps and implement improvements A collaborative partner who can work effectively with finance, operations, and technology teams Why Join?
