Scion Nonprofit Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for a Controller, Finance & Administration for a mission-driven nonprofit organization focused on impactful community programs. This is an onsite opportunity based in Burlingame, CA.

POSITION OVERVIEW

This interim leadership position blends strategic oversight with hands-on execution, leading full-cycle accounting and finance operations while partnering closely with executive leadership and the board.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead full-cycle accounting operations, including general ledger, month-end close, and financial reporting Oversee finance, purchasing, IT, and HR functions, managing multiple direct reports Prepare and present financial reports to executive leadership and board stakeholders Own budgeting processes, forecasting, and audit preparation Assess and optimize financial systems, reporting processes, and internal controls Balance strategic financial leadership with hands-on operational execution

QUALIFICATIONS

Proven experience as a Controller within a nonprofit organization Strong expertise in full-cycle accounting and financial oversight Experience presenting financials to executive leadership and boards Hands-on leadership style with the ability to manage cross-functional teams CPA preferred and proficiency with systems such as Blackbaud Financial Edge, ADP, ABRA, and Microsoft Office

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

This temporary opportunity offers a competitive hourly rate of $58-$72/hour, depending on experience, with a full-time schedule of 40 hours per week. The assignment is anticipated to last approximately 3 months, with potential for extension. Equipment will be provided, and the role offers valuable executive-level exposure within a respected nonprofit organization.
