ASSISTANT CONTROLLER
- Financial Operations The Assistant Controller will play a key role in strengthening the company's accounting infrastructure and financial reporting processes. Reporting to the Controller and working closely with the CFO, this position will support the accounting function by improving month-end close procedures, strengthening balance sheet reconciliation processes, and enhancing internal controls. This role will initially focus on improving accounting processes and supporting financial reporting while assisting with the company's ERP implementation. As processes mature, the position will expand to include operational leadership and oversight of transactional accounting functions including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Billing. The ideal candidate is a hands-on accounting professional with strong technical accounting skills, a process improvement mindset, and the ability to build scalable accounting procedures in a growing organization.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Accounting Operations and Close Process Assist the Controller in managing the month-end and year-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting. Support the development and enforcement of a structured close calendar and checklist. Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules. Ensure accounting treatment and financial reporting comply withU.S. GAAP
Assist in driving improvements toward a 10-day month-end close timeline. Assist with preparation of monthly financial reporting packages used for internal management, lender reporting, and investor reporting Balance Sheet Reconciliations Design and implement standardized balance sheet reconciliation procedures across all accounts. Assign and track reconciliation ownership across accounting staff. Investigate and resolve discrepancies to improve overall balance sheet integrity. Accounting Process Improvement Identify inefficiencies within current accounting workflows and implement process improvements. Develop and maintain standardized procedures for key accounting processes including: adjusting journal entries, accrual accounting, prepaid amortization schedules, fixed asset schedules, etc. Assist with the development and documentation of accounting policies and procedures. ERP Implementation Support Support the company's NetSuite ERP implementation, including workflow testing and validation of accounting processes. Ensure accounting processes align with best practices within the ERP environment. Internal Controls and Audit Support- Strengthen internal controls and segregation of duties across accounting processes.
- Support the annual external audit, including preparation of schedules and coordination with auditors.
- Assist in resolving audit findings and implementing improvements to accounting processes.
- Ensure accounting documentation and reconciliations support GAAP-compliant financial reporting.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, economics or related fields Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting principles Minimum of 5+ years of progressive accounting experience Strong understanding of month-end close processes and balance sheet reconciliations Experience improving accounting processes and financial reporting workflows Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups and financial modeling.Pay:
