Our accounting operations are fully centralized at our Southern California corporate office. We are looking for a Corporate Controller to lead our accounting team and own the integrity of financials across all business units. Job Summary The Corporate Controller is the senior accounting leader of the organization, responsible for the accuracy and integrity of all property-level and entity-level accounting across our hotel portfolio, restaurant, and corporate entities. This role reports directly to the CFO and oversees a team of property accountants. This position will play a critical role in managing the accounting function for a multi-property hotel company, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely financial reporting. The ideal candidate will bring a strong technical foundation in accounting, the ability to supervise accounting operations, and the initiative to improve processes in a multi-entity environment.
Responsibilities:
Prepare, review, and post journal entries for multiple entities Manage month-end and year-end close processes, including general ledger maintenance and reconciliations Supervise Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and proper internal controls Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner Assist with cash flow management, including monitoring daily activity and reconciling bank accounts Prepare financial statements and supporting schedules in compliance with GAAP Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis for multiple properties Collaborate with property-level management to ensure proper coding, accruals, and compliance with company policies Assist with tax compliance, including sales tax, occupancy tax, and other regulatory filings Coordinate with external auditors and provide audit support, including preparation of workpapers and documentation Identify and implement process improvements to strengthen controls and enhance efficiency Maintain fixed asset schedules and depreciation calculations Provide support for ad hoc financial analysis and special projects as assigned
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA license or progress toward CPA preferred Minimum 7 years of progressive accounting experience; hospitality or multi-entity industry experience strongly preferred Strong technical knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting Proficiency in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central strongly preferred; advanced Excel skills required Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines with a high degree of accuracy Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills Supervisory or team leadership experience preferred
