Job Description

Tyler Houk (Practice Director) with Robert Half is looking for an experienced Controller to lead the company's accounting operations and support sound financial decision-making in Fresno, California. This position will oversee core reporting, budgeting, and compliance activities while guiding a small accounting team in a manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting knowledge, leadership capability, and the ability to turn financial data into practical business insight.
Responsibilities:
  • Direct daily accounting operations, including oversight of closing activities, balance sheet reconciliations, and the timely completion of financial reports.
  • Develop and deliver financial statements, operating budgets, and forward-looking projections for leadership review and planning purposes.
  • Supervise key transactional functions such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll coordination, and general ledger integrity.
  • Maintain adherence to applicable accounting regulations and reporting standards, including US GAAP, and support a strong compliance environment.
  • Partner with operational and departmental leaders to evaluate performance, explain financial results, and inform business decisions.
  • Manage, coach, and develop a four-person accounting team, promoting accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
  • Strengthen internal control procedures to protect company assets and improve the reliability of financial information.
  • Review financial trends and cost drivers to identify opportunities for greater efficiency, savings, and improved profitability.
  • Coordinate audit preparation and assist with tax-related documentation and reporting requirements.
