Located in North San Diego, our client is at the forefront of cardiovascular medical technology with plans to go public in 2025 As they transition into a publicly traded entity, they are looking to hire a seasoned Corporate Controller to lead their finance operations and contribute to their continued growth and success. Experience working in the medical device or biotech industry is required.
Job Description:
We seek a highly skilled and experienced Corporate Controller with solid accounting experience to manage financial operations and lead a team of approximately 10 finance professionals. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in financial management within a public company and, preferably, a private company preparing for or undergoing an IPO. This role requires a strategic thinker with a solid background in public company reporting compliance and the ability to handle the complexities of international financial operations.
Responsibilities:
  • Oversee all aspects of financial management, including corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, budget and forecast preparation, and developing internal control policies and procedures.
  • Manage the finance team to ensure compliance with accounting standards and legal requirements.
  • Lead the preparation and filing of IPO documents, coordinate with external auditors, and ensure that all financial practices comply with statutory regulations and internal policies.
  • Develop and implement strategies for financial optimization and reporting efficiency, especially in preparing for public company status.
  • Collaborate with senior management to strategize on financial and long-term business planning.
  • Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA required.
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in financial management, with significant experience as a Controller or similar leadership role in a public company. Experience working for a medical device or biotech company is required.
  • Prior experience with one of the Big Four accounting firms is highly desirable.
  • Experience with IPO filings and readiness preferred.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing finance teams.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, capable of explaining complex financial information in an easy-to-understand manner.
  • International finance experience is highly desirable.
