Summary of Responsibilities:
We are seeking a versatile strategic Controller to oversee accounting and human resource operations. You will be responsible to produce periodic financial reports, maintenance of an accounting records, comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk while overseeing the Human Resources team.
Responsibilities:
I. Financial Control & Reporting (60%)
Month-End Close:
Manage the full-cycle closing process, ensuring all journal entries, bank reconciliations, and departmental allocations are completed within 15 days of month-end.
Financial Statement Production:
Prepare accurate Balance Sheets, P&L, and Cash Flow statements in accordance with GAAP.
Budgeting & Variance Analysis:
Lead the annual budgeting process and provide monthly "Actual vs. Budget" reports to department heads to prevent overspending.
Treasury & Cash Management:
Monitor daily cash balances and execute short-term cash flow forecasting to ensure operational liquidity.
Internal Audit & Controls:
Design and enforce "Check and Balance" procedures (e.g., dual signature requirements, expense report audits) to mitigate fraud. II. Human Resources & Payroll (30%)
Full-Cycle Payroll:
Execute semi-monthly or bi-weekly payroll, including the calculation of commissions, bonuses, and statutory deductions.
Benefits Oversight:
Manage the relationship with insurance brokers, lead the annual "Open Enrollment" period, and handle 401(k) administration/compliance.
Labor Law Compliance:
Maintain the Employee Handbook and ensure the company is compliant with FLSA (overtime), FMLA, and EEO reporting. III. Compliance, Tax, & Strategy (10%)
Tax Coordination:
Act as the primary point of contact for external CPA firms for corporate tax filings, R D tax credits, and 1099 issuance.
Audit Management:
Lead the preparation for year-end financial audits or workers' comp audits.
Business Insurance:
Manage the company's insurance portfolio, including D&O (Directors and Officers), General Liability, and Cyber insurance.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree required in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration CPA certification is Highly preferred 7-10 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a management or "Assistant Controller" capacity SHRM-CP or PHR certification is preferred Proven experience managing human resources departments and compliance Experience managing the year-end financial audits and workers' compensation audits. Expertise in platforms like Insperity/isolved, Work Bright for onboarding, Ease portal for benefit management This role bridges two sensitive departments and discretion and confidentiality is a must. Experience working in events or events management a plus
