Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Regional Controller for our West Coast units supporting our Stadiums & Arenas, Cultural Destinations and Convention & Conference Centers.
Job Overview :
The Regional Controller is charged with direct responsibility for the financial affairs of supporting 30+ units including units located in Canada. They are responsible for overseeing and directing the activities of Unit Controllers and Accounting Staff in the areas of cash management, credit transactions, general ledger entries, tax and compliance, payroll, accounts payable and receivable and financial analysis and reporting. The Regional Controller is accountable for developing and implementing budgets and capital expense plans. They will ensure consistency and continuity across their region and will approve key personnel decisions and expenditures. The Regional Controller will partner closely with senior operations staff to establish fiscal priorities for each unit and will interface regularly with Unit Controllers and Accounting Staff to evaluate and support their on-going performance.
Essential Responsibilities :
Lead financial oversight for multiple venues, including budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis. Accountable for developing and implementing budgets and capital expense plans. Ensure consistency and continuity across their region, and will approve key personnel decisions and expenditures. Partner closely with senior operations staff to establish fiscal priorities for each unit, and will interface regularly with Unit Controllers and Accounting Staff to evaluate and support their on-going performance.
Manage accounting functions:
general ledger, payroll, accounts payable/receivable, and tax compliance. Ensure adherence to GAAP and internal financial policies. Provide financial reporting and insights to support operational decisions. Collaborate with venue leadership to drive cost control and revenue optimization. Supervise and mentor unit controllers and finance staff across the region. Support audits and ensure regulatory compliance. Implement systems and processes to improve financial performance and reporting accuracy.
Qualifications/Skills :
Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance or related field of study. CPA preferred, or appropriate combination of education and work experience to support on the job effectiveness. 5-10 years' previous work experience as a Controller, with multi-unit responsibilities. Exceptional knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, cost accounting and cost control principles, to include Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) Strong ability to analyze financial data and prepare ad-hoc financial reports, statements and projections as needed Excellent knowledge of EXCEL/ACCESS and Microsoft Office Suite software, A/P, A/R, Payroll, G/L and cash handling; Lawson system experience is highly desired. Knowledge of POS system, Time and Attendance systems and operation of digital devices such as registers and time clocks is helpful. Initiative in identifying and resolving problems timely and effectively. Ability to prioritize and successfully manage multiple and competing priorities in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. Self-starter who can work independently and on several tasks/projects simultaneously, and who can contribute to functional areas of the business outside of the finance area.
