American Vanguard is a diversified agricultural and specialty products company that focuses on crop protection, turf and ornamental markets. From our new global headquarters, we operate a wide range of businesses in the U.S. (AMVAC®, AMGUARD™ Environmental Technologies) and world wide in Australia (AgNova Technologies™), Brazil (AMVAC do Brasil); Mexico (AMVAC Mexico), and more. American Vanguard's Corporate Controller is responsible for managing the corporate accounting function with responsibilities that include the preparation of 10-Q & 10-K filings, monthly financial consolidation, management of the corporate accounting team, and handling special projects. The Controller oversees the monthly review of financial results and reporting compliant with SOX and corporate regulations. They will work closely with executive management to provide required analysis and analytics. Expectations for this position will be to develop and maintain best-in-class processes and procedures for the corporate accounting function. Established in 1969, we drive the growth and sustainability of agricultural products and focus on developing new products as well as acquiring well-established brands in proven crop protection chemistries turf and ornamental markets; advancing the industry with GreenSolutions™, and other progressive technologies through multiple business units generating $500M in revenues across multiple continents. The Corporate headquarters is relocating to new offices in the Irvine Spectrum as we streamline our processes and build a collaborative environment with multiple business units world-wide.
JOB RESPONSIBILITES
Oversee the Corporate accounting function working closely with a team of professionals Manage the preparation of the monthly consolidated financials using Hyperion Manage the preparation of 10-Q and 10-K filings to meet SEC requirements Liaison with auditors during quarterly reviews, annual audits, and SOX audits Review journal entries, schedules and provide guidance for the team Drive efforts to improve accounting processes and introduce technology solutions to improve efficiency Provide ad hoc reports and deliver special projects to meet corporate requirements globally
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
Good understanding of GAAP concepts Strong skills with Hyperion (3+ years) Advanced skills in Excel Excellent communication skills both oral and written Attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy Mindset of need to be "best in class" in relation processes and procedures Strive to continually improve Strive to develop and maintain a positive team environment
EXPERIENCE
3+ years of experience in a Corporate Controller or similar role Minimum three years' experience in preparation of 10-Q / 10-K filings Experience with QAD (ERP) a plus, but not required
EDUCATION
Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) in accounting or finance CPA required
