Job Description

Job DescriptionJob Description Job Summary We are looking for a highly experienced and meticulous Controller to oversee our accounting department and financial operations. The Controller will manage day-to-day accounting, including accounts payable/receivable, and general ledger maintenance, while ensuring all financial activities comply with GAAP standards and regulations. The ideal candidate will provide strategic insights through accurate financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting to support company growth.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities Accounting Operations:
Oversee all accounting functions, including billing, A/R, A/P, GL, and revenue recognition to ensure timely and accurate financial statements.
Financial Reporting:
Publish timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (balance sheets, income statements).
Budgeting & Forecasting:
Coordinate the preparation of the annual budget, financial forecasts, and report on variances.
Internal Controls:
Develop, document, and implement internal control policies and procedures to safeguard assets and reduce risk.
Compliance & Tax:
Manage local, state, and federal government reporting requirements, including tax filings.
Audit Management:
Coordinate and lead the annual audit process, acting as the primary liaison with external auditors.
Team Leadership:
Supervise, train, and mentor the accounting staff, including Accounts Payable/Receivable and Payroll clerks.
Cash Management:
Monitor cash flow, oversee bank reconciliations, and manage banking relationships.
Requirements & Qualifications Education:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
Experience:
7-10+ years of progressive experience in accounting, with at least 3-5 years in a managerial or supervisory role.
Certification:
CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or CMA (Certified Management Accountant) is highly preferred.
Technical Skills:
Advanced knowledge of GAAP, proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Oracle), and advanced Excel skills.
Soft Skills:
Strong analytical abilities, high attention to detail, and the ability to explain complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for Success Accuracy and timeliness of monthly close (e.g., closing within 10-15 business days). Reduction in budget variances. Strengthening of internal controls to prevent errors or fraud.
