Parking is paid. We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Assistant Controller to join our finance team. This pivotal role offers an exciting opportunity to lead financial operations, ensure compliance with regulatory standards, and support strategic decision-making. As an integral part of our organization, you will oversee a broad range of accounting functions, mentor junior staff, and contribute to the overall financial health of the organization. The ideal candidate is passionate about accounting excellence, possesses strong technical skills, and thrives in a collaborative environment committed to integrity and continuous improvement. Responsibilities Manage and oversee all aspects of corporate accounting functions, including general ledger reconciliation, journal entries, accounts payable and receivable, and month-end closing processes. Ensure compliance with GAAP requirements, and other regulatory standards relevant to accounting. Prepare, analyze, and interpret financial statements, reports, and forecasts to support organizational decision-making. Lead the reconciliation of balance sheets, bank accounts, and account analysis to maintain accurate financial records. Implement and monitor internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure data integrity across accounting software platforms: Yardi and Trimble Mentor and develop junior accounting staff by providing guidance on technical accounting issues. Support external audits by preparing necessary documentation and ensuring audit readiness at all times. Skills Proficiency in accounting software such as Yardi and Trimble, strong Excel skills including financial report writing and analysis. Strong understanding of technical accounting issues such as accrual accounting, double entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, journal entries, account reconciliation and financial statement preparation. Ability to interpret complex financial concepts clearly for diverse audiences; excellent analytical skills for financial report interpretation and cash flow analysis. Proven mentoring ability with a focus on developing team members' technical skills in areas like auditing or securities law. Excellent organizational skills with a keen eye for detail in bank reconciliations, accounts payable/receivable management, and general ledger oversight.
