Our Sacramento based client is seeking a Controller to oversee day-to-day accounting operations, ensures strong internal controls, and supports organizational budgeting and financial planning. This role manages the accounting team, leads financial reporting, and partners with senior leadership to maintain the organization's financial health. Our client is a mission based advocacy and professional services organization based in downtown.
Salary:
$140.000-$150,000 plus generous medical benefits, retirement benefits and PTO . Hybrid- 2-3 days onsite after training. Responsibilities Oversee accounting functions, including financial reporting, payroll, payables/receivables, cash management, and general ledger accuracy. Responsible for grant accounting. Maintain internal controls, ensure compliance with accounting standards, and support audit activities. Prepare timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports. Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis. Review and approve key transactions and reconciliations. Maintain accounting policies, procedures, and financial systems. Supervise, coach, and develop accounting staff. Collaborate with leadership and provide financial insights to support decision-making. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field. 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including staff supervision. Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, budgeting, and internal controls. Ability to manage multiple priorities, analyze financial data, and meet deadlines. Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across teams. Advanced Excel skills and experience with accounting and payroll systems. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree 7+ years of experience in a similar role. Experience with federal grant accounting. Familiarity with financial and payroll software systems.
