Job Description
Job Description Controller The Controller is responsible for overseeing all financial and accounting functions of the firm, including financial reporting, budgeting, cash management, and compliance, while working closely with Accounting team members to ensure timely and accurate results. This role works closely with firm leadership to ensure financial integrity, optimize performance, and support long-term strategic goals
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily accounting operations, including the general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, and trust accounting.
- Prepare and analyze monthly and annual financial statements.
- Manage the firm's budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Monitor cash flow and financial performance metrics.
- Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and tax requirements.
- Maintain and enhance internal controls and accounting procedures.
- Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and banking partners.
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff.
- Partner with firm leadership on financial strategy and profitability analysis.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred. CPA a plus.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within a law firm or professional services environment.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, advanced formulas, macros) and dashboards.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Exceptional analytical and leadership skills.
- Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- High level of integrity and ability to handle confidential information.
