VP of Finance

Job DescriptionJob Description We are representing a publicly-traded FinTech company in La Jolla in their search for a VP of Finance. The position is open due to tremendous growth and acquisition activity. This is a high visibility role reporting to the Chief Accounting Officer, with strong long-term upward mobility potential. It's a great opportunity for someone to help shape and modernize the accounting infrastructure of a fast-growing fintech bank, without needing the strong technical accounting or SEC reporting background. Responsibilities:

Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes, including external audits and reviews Ensure accuracy of financial statements, SEC filings, and regulatory reporting Identify and implement process improvements focused on automation, scalability, and operational efficiency Lead SOX compliance efforts and maintain a strong internal control environment Partner with auditors and leadership on regulatory reporting and risk assessment matters Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff and leadership team Support systems implementations, cloud initiatives, and process engineering projects Analyze reporting data and help evaluate accounting and regulatory risk areas Collaborate cross-functionally with accounting, finance, and operational teams during growth and integration initiatives Prepare reporting and presentations for senior leadership and external stakeholders

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred 10+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience within banking or financial services Strong regulatory reporting experience required Experience managing teams, including manager-level direct reports Public company and SEC reporting experience preferred Agile, forward-thinking leader with strong communication skills and interest in automation/process improvement Company DescriptionTransition Staffing Group is an award winning San Diego based staffing agency providing solutions on a Temporary, Temporary-to-Hire and Direct Hire basis.
