VP of Finance Confidential San Diego, CA Job Details Full-time From $200,000 a year Benefits Health insurance 401(k) Paid time off 401(k) matching Qualifications Microsoft Word Accounting systems Financial modeling Assistant manager experience Bachelor's degree Business Administration Master of Business Administration Accounting experience within real estate Full Job Description VP of Finance This is a great opportunity to work for a privately held company that owns and operates real estate with a primary focus on real estate development & hospitality. This position will be responsible for the financial and accounting activities of all partnership entities, including all phases of corporate accounting and reporting in a multi-property environment. Prior experience with real estate partnerships and taxes is a requirement. All tax return preparation is done by an outside tax firm. This position works directly with the operations team and the legal department on matters relating to risk management and legal compliance and reports directly to the CEO/Owner.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Accounting, Financial Reporting & Cash Management
  • Oversee the accounting department (currently a team of 3).
  • Close out the month end process, ensuring that the books and records of the partnership and operating entities are maintained in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Prepare the monthly financial statements of all partnership and corporate entities.
  • Oversee the preparation of operating budgets for the partnership entities, with assistance from other departments.
  • Prepare a monthly cash flow analysis and forecast reporting.
  • Responsible for banking and credit card merchant relationships, including time-sensitive financial reporting to lenders, and sourcing and implementing merchant processing services company-wide.
  • Assist and support the Owner with analysis for evaluation of capital investment and liquidity alternatives.
  • Assist in the refinancing of any existing loans.
  • Review and be thoroughly familiar with existing loan covenants and conditions.
  • Coordinate Capital Calls from, and Distributions to, partners in various entities.
  • Participate in the review of new business acquisitions and/or management opportunities and financial modeling, as needed.
  • Supervise the preparation of federal and state income tax returns by the outside tax professional(s) and organize and prepare all necessary supporting financial information. Systems, Processes and IT
  • Support and be responsible for ensuring best practices as it relates to finance, accounting, purchasing, and payroll systems and processes, throughout the company.
  • Audit and continually improve the internal control procedures to ensure the integrity of the financial statements and protection of assets.
  • 401(k) Plan Administration and manage compliance with the provisions of the 401(k) Plan in accordance with the Plan Documents.
  • Prepare the corporate payroll and the necessary federal and state tax reporting. Legal Compliance & Risk Management
  • Work closely with In-house Counsel on special projects, as needed.
  • Work with In-house Counsel and Owner on risk management, including the annual review of all insurance coverage, renewal analysis and monitoring of costs.
JOB KNOWLEDGE & EDUCATIONAL LEVEL
: Minimum of 10 years progressive management accounting responsibilities, including experience working in the real estate industry. Partnership Accounting experience is required. Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance or Business Administration required. MBA and/or Certified Public Accountant preferred.
SKILLS AND APTITUDES
: Strong written and verbal communication skills. Requires individual to be hands-on and detail oriented. Must be proficient with Word, Excel and good working knowledge of accounting systems. Company recently migrated from QuickBooks to Intacct and knowledge of both is preferred.

Compensation will be commensurate with experience. Medical, 401K and Vacation benefits offered.
