The Role We are seeking a Controller to oversee the accounting and financial operations of the business. This is a hands-on, on-site role responsible for day-to-day accounting oversight, financial reporting, and cash management across multiple related entities. The Controller serves as the organization's primary finance and accounting role, working closely with ownership and providing clear, practical financial insight to support operations and decision-making. This is an opportunity to step into a long‑standing role with direct visibility to ownership and meaningful responsibility across the business. Key Responsibilities Oversee accounting and financial reporting for operating and affiliated entities Maintain general ledger accuracy and integrity Lead month-end and year-end close processes, including account reconciliations and journal entries Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll processes Prepare and review monthly financial statements for management Supervise and support a small, experienced accounting team Manage cash flow, including projections and funding decisions Oversee payroll tax compliance and prepare related filings and payments Prepare and maintain the annual budget and financial projections Serve as primary liaison with external tax accountants, including coordinating information requests and ensuring timely and accurate tax filings Manage banking, insurance, and legal relationships related to the business Oversee insurance coverage for health insurance, workers' compensation, and general liability, including renewals, audits, and coverage recommendations Review land leases and support annual updates to grower contracts Support related-party and multi-entity accounting with appropriate documentation and controls Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field Minimum 5 years of accounting experience Agriculture or agribusiness experience preferred Prior supervisory experience Experience with FAMOUS accounting software preferred Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel What We're Looking For Practical, steady accounting and finance professional Self-motivated and comfortable operating independently as the organization's primary finance and accounting role Strong judgment, attention to detail, and follow-through Ability to communicate financial information clearly and practically Respect for established processes with a thoughtful approach to improvement Interest in a long-term role within an established, locally owned business Work Environment Full-time, on-site position Stable, relationship-driven, family-owned business Long-tenured team and established systems
Compensation & Benefits Compensation Range:
