Exempt Position Summary The Director of Finance is responsible for the day-to-day financial management and operational oversight of the organization's finance function. Reporting to the CFO (or delegate), this role ensures accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, regulatory compliance, and effective budget management aligned with organizational priorities. The Director of Finance supports strategic decision-making through sound financial analysis, fiscal discipline, and operational excellence while maintaining the highest standards of integrity and accountability. Essential Duties & Responsibilities 1. Financial Management & Oversight Implement financial strategies, policies, and procedures established by organizational leadership. Oversee accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll coordination, and monthly close. Monitor financial performance metrics and provide analysis to support leadership decision-making. Identify operational efficiencies and risk areas within financial systems. Ensure compliance with GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards. 2. Budgeting & Forecasting Lead preparation of the annual budget in collaboration with department leaders. Prepare financial forecasts and variance reports for executive review. Monitor budget-to-actual performance and recommend corrective actions as needed. Support long-term financial planning through data analysis and modeling. 3. Financial Reporting & Compliance Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP. Support external audits, tax filings (including Form 990), and regulatory reporting. Maintain and strengthen internal controls to safeguard organizational assets. Provide financial reports to the CEO and leadership team; support Board and Finance Committee reporting as requested. 4. Cash & Treasury Management Monitor cash flow and liquidity needs. Maintain banking relationships and oversee daily cash management activities. Assist with investment tracking and financial planning initiatives. 5. Grant & Contract Accounting Oversee grant and contract accounting processes, ensuring compliance with funding requirements. Track restricted funds and prepare grant financial reports. Partner with Development staff to align financial tracking with grant deliverables and reporting timelines. 6. Team Leadership & Department Operations Supervise finance staff and ensure high standards of accuracy, timeliness, and professionalism. Develop and implement process improvements within the finance department. Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Support cross-departmental alignment by providing financial clarity and guidance to managers.Requirements:
