This pivotal role involves overseeing financial reporting, budgeting, and internal controls, all while supporting our organization through meticulous financial management. SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
Guides financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures. Establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls. Monitors and confirms financial condition by conducting audits and providing information to and coordinating activities of external auditors. Provides status of financial condition by collecting, interpreting, and reporting financial data. Maintenance of Prepaid Schedules and Deposits Reconciliation of Sub Ledgers (AR, AP, Inv etc.) to General Ledger Prepare balance sheets and profit and loss statements, and other financial reports. Supervision of financial month end closing process. Prepares special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends. Planning, directing, and coordinating all accounting operational functions. Supervision and evaluation of accounting and payroll staff. Maintains financial staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees. Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes across multiple facilities or production lines Ensure accurate financial statements in accordance with GAAP Analyze variances related to production, labor, material usage, and overhead absorption Partner with the CFO/President on budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning Cost Accounting & Inventory Control Oversee standard costing, BOMs (Bill of Materials), and variance analysis Monitor and analyze yield, scrap, and production efficiency metrics Ensure accurate inventory valuation across raw materials, WIP, and finished goods Partner with operations to improve cost visibility and profitability by product line Lead physical inventory counts, cycle counts, and reconciliation processes Accounts Payable (AP) Manage high-volume AP processes, including raw material, packaging, and supplier payments Ensure proper three-way matching (PO, receipt, invoice) and alignment with procurement Optimize payment terms to support working capital goals while maintaining supplier relationships Accounts Receivable (AR) Oversee invoicing, collections, and customer deductions Manage trade spend, chargebacks, and deductions Improve cash conversion cycle and monitor DSO Treasury & Cash Flow Manage daily cash flow with a focus on inventory-heavy working capital cycles Oversee banking relationships, lines of credit, and covenant compliance Develop cash forecasts tied to production schedules, seasonal demand, and raw material purchasing Payroll Oversee payroll for hourly plant workers, shift labor, and salaried employees Ensure compliance with wage laws, overtime regulations, and union agreements (if applicable) Partner with HR on labor costing and workforce planning Compliance, Audit & Controls Maintain strong internal controls in a food-safe, regulated environment Support external audits and ensure compliance with tax and regulatory requirements Partner with Quality/Food Safety teams as needed (e.g., traceability impacts on inventory/accounting) Ensure proper documentation for lot tracking and inventory traceability from a financial perspective Operations Partnership Act as a key finance partner to plant managers, operations, and supply chain teams Provide insights on line efficiencies, labor utilization, and capacity planning Support capital expenditure analysis (equipment, automation, production lines) Drive continuous improvement initiatives across finance and manufacturing processes Leadership & Systems Lead and develop accounting staff across AP, AR, payroll, and general accounting Syspro ERP proficiency Drive ERP and system improvements (inventory, production, and financial modules) Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred) 8-12+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership roles Strong experience in food manufacturing, CPG, or process manufacturing environments Deep knowledge of cost accounting, inventory management, and production finance Experience overseeing AP, AR, treasury, and payroll functions Proficiency in ERP systems (Syspro, NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, etc.) Preferred Experience Multi-plant or multi-location manufacturing environment Experience with retail, grocery, or foodservice distribution channels Familiarity with trade spend, deductions, and promotional accounting Exposure to food safety and traceability impacts on financial processes Key Competencies Strong operational and financial acumen Ability to translate plant data into financial insights Process-driven with a continuous improvement mindset Detail-oriented with strategic perspective Effective cross-functional communicator (finance ↔ operations) Why This Role Matters This role sits at the center of finance and production , ensuring that as products scale from concept to commercialization, the company maintains cost discipline, margin visibility, and operational efficiency while supporting growth.
