Job Description

Job Summary A residential property management organization in Los Angeles, CA is seeking an experienced Controller to lead accounting operations for a growing residential property portfolio and development-related activity. This direct hire Controller role is ideal for a hands-on accounting leader with deep residential property accounting experience, strong GAAP knowledge, and advanced Yardi proficiency. The Controller will manage a team of approximately six accounting professionals while overseeing financial reporting, close processes, budgeting, forecasting, internal controls, and strategic financial analysis. This is a high-impact leadership opportunity for a finance professional who enjoys building efficient accounting processes, partnering with operations and executive leadership, and supporting sound financial decision-making across a real estate portfolio. Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of approximately six accounting professionals supporting residential property accounting operations.
  • Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting, including general ledger integrity, journal entries, reconciliations, and financial analyses.
  • Direct month-end and year-end close processes while ensuring accurate, timely, and GAAP-compliant financial statements.
  • Manage annual budgets, forecasts, cash flow projections, and financial performance analysis for residential properties and development projects.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve internal controls, accounting procedures, reporting processes, and system efficiencies.
  • Coordinate annual audits and collaborate with external auditors, tax professionals, property management, operations, and executive leadership. Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary range: $140,000 to $200,000 per year, depending on experience.
