Job DescriptionJob DescriptionWe are looking for an experienced Controller to join a construction organization in Greeley, Colorado on a Contract basis. This role will oversee core accounting operations, strengthen financial controls, and support accurate reporting across the business. The ideal candidate brings a hands-on approach to reconciliation, month-end activities, and documentation management while maintaining a high standard of accuracy and compliance.
Responsibilities:
  • Direct daily accounting activities and ensure financial records are maintained accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Prepare and review journal entries, account analyses, and supporting schedules to facilitate reliable month-end and period-end close processes.
  • Perform detailed reconciliations for bank accounts, cash activity, and balance sheet accounts, resolving discrepancies promptly.
  • Establish, monitor, and improve accounting controls to support compliance and safeguard financial information.
  • Compile, organize, and review financial and operational documentation, including scanned records and supporting files for audits or internal review.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to maintain consistent accounting practices and provide clarity on financial results.
  • Evaluate account activity and investigate variances to ensure the general ledger reflects complete and accurate information.
  • Support special accounting projects and process-related initiatives as needed within the finance function.
  • Prior experience serving in a Controller or senior-level accounting leadership role, ideally within the construction industry or a related environment.
  • Strong knowledge of general accounting operations, financial controls, and account reconciliation procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare adjusting journal entries and manage balance sheet, bank, and cash reconciliations.
  • Experience organizing, compiling, and maintaining documentation with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Solid understanding of month-end close processes and the ability to identify and resolve accounting discrepancies efficiently.
  • Proficiency in reviewing financial data, maintaining internal controls, and supporting accurate reporting.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a Contract assignment.
