Director of Finance/Controller
Southport, CT Confidential Company Overview A rapidly expanding professional services firm is looking to strengthen its financial leadership team. The organization provides a mix of planning, advisory, and operational support services to clients across the country and has experienced significant growth over the last several years. The firm is continuing to scale and is seeking driven, high-performing individuals who want to contribute to a fast-moving environment. Position Summary This role is an excellent opportunity for an experienced finance leader who enjoys building structure within a growing, entrepreneurial company. The person in this seat will oversee core financial operations, including full P&L ownership, cash management, vendor oversight, and internal reporting across multiple teams. This is a hands-on leadership role, not a back-office reporting position. You will work directly with senior executives and collaborate with key leaders across finance, HR, compliance, and operations. Key Responsibilities Lead internal financial reporting, forecasting, budgeting, and month-end close
Strengthen cashflow forecasting, liquidity planning, and visibility into capital needs
Create and maintain internal financial controls, workflows, and process improvements
Partner with revenue and billing teams to ensure accurate compensation and client invoicing
Consolidate financial results across multiple business units and locations
Manage vendor relationships, contract reviews, and organization-wide payables
Support leadership with financial modeling, strategic planning, and potential investment readiness
Provide guidance and leadership to finance team members as the organization grows Required Background 7-10+ years of progressive finance or accounting experience
Success in a Controller, Director of Finance, or senior finance leadership role
Strong understanding of accounting standards and operational finance
Hands-on leader who can move between strategy and detailed execution
Comfortable building scalable systems and processes
CPA or CFA preferred, but not mandatory
