Job Description

We are looking for a detail-oriented Controller to support key accounting and finance activities for a Contract position based in Middletown, Connecticut. This role will oversee core close processes, maintain accurate financial records, and deliver meaningful reporting and analysis to support business decisions. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting experience, excellent Excel skills, and a hands-on approach to managing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
  • Lead the monthly closing cycle by coordinating timelines, preparing entries, and ensuring all financial activity is recorded accurately.
  • Prepare and post journal entries with appropriate support, maintaining compliance with accounting standards and internal controls.
  • Perform detailed balance sheet and account reconciliations, investigate variances, and resolve discrepancies promptly.
  • Analyze financial results to identify trends, explain fluctuations, and provide insights that support operational and leadership decisions.
  • Produce regular financial reports that are clear, accurate, and timely for stakeholders and management review.
  • Partner with internal teams to gather financial data, improve reporting accuracy, and support ongoing accounting processes.
  • Use Excel to organize, validate, and interpret large volumes of financial information efficiently.
  • Assist with process improvements and other accounting priorities as needed to strengthen reporting and close activities.
