This long-term contract role requires an experienced and detail-oriented individual with extensive and focused experience in financial leadership roles. The ideal candidate will lead and support a finance team, oversee ongoing audit preparations, and ensure timely and accurate financial reconciliations while driving the organization's financial stability, compliance, and strategy with senior leadership and the Board.
Responsibilities:
Oversee and support the finance team, including supervising the Controller and Senior Accountant. Manage and finalize the closeout process for multiple grants, ensuring compliance with all financial requirements. Act as the primary liaison between internal staff and the President and Board of Directors. Review and validate the organization's budget, confirming assumptions, identifying gaps, and recommending necessary adjustments. Ensure the organization remains on track with financial reporting deadlines and compliance requirements. Utilize financial systems, such as Sage Intacct, to manage financial data and reporting effectively. A minimum of 10 years of experience in finance leadership roles, including CFO, VP or Director-level positions. Strong background in grant accounting and financial closeout processes. Demonstrated ability to manage and mentor finance teams effectively. Hands-on experience with reconciliations, budget reviews, and financial reporting. Familiarity with financial software such as Sage Intacct is preferred, though not required. Exceptional communication and organizational skills to handle complex financial operations. Ability to work on-site in Washington, DC, four days per week, with potential flexibility for the right candidate.
