The Impact You Will Have The VP of Major Accounts is responsible for achieving net growth targets and achieving financial targets established in the annual budget. The incumbent will exhibit the values of our organization while leading the Fully Insured, Self Insured, National Accounts, Taft-Hartley, Large Accounts and Complex Accounts segments. The key duties of this role are to define strategy that aligns with enterprise strategy, drive the strategy, hire and retain a high performing team and manage the departmental budget. Your Responsibilities Establish the strategic approach to develop and maintain positive relationships with Consultants and Agencies resulting in increased market penetration for BCBSMN. Develop and Manage strategies that support the delivery of National accounts with the BCBSA and Consortium Health Plans. Develop and manage a consultative selling approach for both the Sales team as well as the Account Management team when interacting with clients and the distribution partners. Develop and maintain relationships with key decision makers and influencers at the client level as well as distribution partners. Develop and implement annual business plans that include the strategies and tactics designed to achieve the corporate membership and financial goals and support the corporate three-year strategic plan. Develop, implement an organizational structure, and process that creates a high performing Sales and Retention team, establishing expectations and goals, provide motivation and assist in the development of ongoing sales training for consultative selling techniques. Maintain a continuous improvement lens to maintain an effective structure and process. Establish and maintain positive working relationships with underwriting, actuarial, marketing, health services, operations, and all other supporting functional areas within the organization while developing strategies for growth and retention. Establish a process for the collection of competitive data and intelligence for competitor health plans and health systems. Responsible for the team culture and embodiment of company values with the team lead. This spans across the associate experience from their first interview to their last day. Required Skills and Experience Accepting this position at BCBSMN requires signing an Employee Confidentiality, Intellectual Property Assignment and Restrictive Covenants Agreement as a condition of employment. 10+ years of related professional experience, with 3+ years of management experience. All relevant experience including work, education, transferable skills, and military experience will be considered. 5 years of sales management experience and a comprehensive knowledge of commercial products. Expert strategic planning and business planning skills. Collaborator, team player, and consensus builder, yet individually strong in taking actions. Innovative and action-oriented, with high energy. Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with customers, colleagues, the Board, regulators, and community. Sound judgment and decision-making skills in ambiguous, time-sensitive situations. Advanced knowledge of health care environment, local and national markets, leading edge products, account management strategies, competitive drivers, and best practice design. Familiarity with health plan product features, networks, underwriting principles, sales cycles, claims trends and other business drivers of sales and account retention. Personnel motivation, mentoring and change management skills to motivate and lead a skilled professional staff, including coaching, performance management, and organizational skills, to meet market plan objectives. Strong communication and diplomacy skills, including written, oral and presentation skills. Demonstrated depth of problem solving and management experience across functional areas. MN Resident Producer License in the lines of Life & Health/Accident. High school diploma (or equivalency) and legal authorization to work in the U.S. Preferred Skills and Experience Bachelors degree or equivalent in related field Role Designation Hybrid Anchored in Connection Our hybrid approach is designed to balance flexibility with meaningful in-person connection and collaboration.
