We are committed to operational excellence, accountability, and team development. We support field operations with strong financial systems and a collaborative office environment. We are seeking an experienced Controller to lead accounting operations, strengthen financial processes, and provide strategic insight to support continued growth. This role reports directly to the CEO at the corporate office in Palm Beach county. Job Description We're seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Controller to oversee and manage our financial operations. This position plays a critical role in maintaining the financial health of our company, supporting strategic decision-making, and optimizing our operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting and finance within the commercial landscape or construction/trades industry, with the ability to adapt to a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Responsibilities Cash Flow Management :
Oversees all organizational accounting and finance function including cash flow, financial reporting, fixed assets, accounts receivable (AR) and accounts payable (AP) ensuring the business maintains sufficient liquidity while managing working capital efficiently under the direction of the CEO.
Financial Reporting & Analysis :
Prepare and present accurate financial statements and reports to senior management and our accounting and banking partners. Provide financial analysis and recommendations to support business decisions.
Budgeting & Forecasting :
Lead the annual and quarterly budgeting process and assist in long-term financial planning. Monitor monthly, quarterly, and annual performance against budget and forecasts working collaboratively with the Executive Team.
Internal Controls & Compliance :
Ensure adherence to financial policies and controls, safeguard assets, and support internal and external audits.
Cost Management :
Work closely with Operational Managers across branches to track project costs, evaluate profitability, and drive cost-saving initiatives.
Team Leadership :
Develop and mentor a small corporate accounting team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment.
General Ledger Oversight :
Maintain the general ledger, ensuring timely and accurate recording of all financial transactions.
Tax & Regulatory Compliance :
Oversee the preparation and filing of tax returns, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA preferred). Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting, finance, or a related field, with at least 2 years in a Controller role. Experience in the commercial landscaping, construction, or service industry is strongly preferred. Advanced proficiency with accounting software (i.e. QuickBooks) CRM platforms (i.e. HubSpot) and MS Office particularly Excel. Strong understanding of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles). Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to explain complex financial information to non-financial team members. Leadership experience with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
