The Controller oversees the company's accounting division and provides high‑level financial leadership to the Partners. This role is responsible for producing accurate financial statements, forecasting financial performance, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and maintaining strong internal controls. The Controller supervises accounting staff, corrects financial inaccuracies, and supports strategic decision‑making across the organization. Primary Job Duties 1. Financial Management & Reporting Manage all aspects of the general ledger. Prepare and publish monthly, quarterly, and year‑end financial statements. Coordinate preparation of budgets, financial status reports, and forecasts. Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement. Prepare and analyze balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements. Ensure quality control over financial transactions and reporting. 2. Compliance, Audits & Controls Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Prepare required government filings, including tax reporting. Execute preparations for internal and external audits. Research accounting issues to ensure GAAP compliance. Develop, document, and enforce internal controls, policies, and procedures. Maintain and strengthen accounting workflows and asset protection measures. 3. Accounting Operations Oversight Supervise and delegate tasks to junior accounting staff. Utilize accounting systems to streamline processes and maintain accurate records. Monitor and reconcile bank accounts regularly. Manage cash flow to optimize working capital and liquidity. Support month‑end and year‑end closing processes. Reconcile accounting inaccuracies or imbalances. 4. Sales, Cost & Operational Support Close monthly sales journals and explain variances (food, beverage, comps, net sales). Compare petty cash receipts to request forms and verify signatures. Prepare cost analyses and reports on purchases. Support senior management with accounting‑related tasks across departments. Provide financial insights to support operational decision‑making. 5. Administrative & Cross‑Functional Responsibilities Ensure adherence to company rules, procedures, and policies. Maintain communication with Partners and accounting team members. Assist with implementation of consistent accounting practices across programs. Perform additional duties as assigned to support efficient business operations. Minimum Requirements Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred. 3-5 years of combined accounting and finance experience. Proven experience as an Assistant Controller or similar role. Strong analytical, computational, and mathematical skills. Excellent written and verbal communication abilities. Proficiency in Excel, Word, POS systems, and accounting software (Restaurant365 a plus). Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy. Strong organizational and record‑keeping skills. Ability to work independently in a fast‑paced environment and meet deadlines. Bilingual (English/Spanish) - fluent required. Physical Requirements Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and perform repetitive tasks. Ability to operate office equipment and computer systems. Occasional interaction with vendors, suppliers, and staff.
