The company partners with emerging and established brands to take products from concept to commercialization, offering full-service capabilities across research and development, formulation, manufacturing, and packaging. Operating out of two facilities in Pinellas County, Florida—located just 13 minutes apart—HBM is structured for efficient production, coordination, and growth. Position Summary The Financial Controller is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day financial operations of the company, ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and efficient accounting processes. This role plays a critical part in supporting strategic decision-making, maintaining compliance, and driving operational and financial excellence. This is a management role and is responsible for direct reports. Key Responsibilities Financial Reporting & Close Manage and oversee the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process Prepare and review financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with GAAP Analyze variances and provide actionable insights to leadership Accounting Operations Oversee general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll functions Ensure proper revenue recognition and expense tracking Maintain and improve accounting policies and procedures Supervise and develop accounting staff Cash Flow & Forecasting Monitor cash flow, liquidity, and working capital Assist in budgeting and forecasting processes Provide financial modeling and scenario analysis Internal Controls & Compliance Establish and maintain strong internal controls Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations Coordinate audits and work with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory agencies Inventory & Cost Accounting (Manufacturing Focus) Oversee inventory accounting and reconciliation processes Ensure accurate standard costing and COGS reporting Partner with operations to improve cost efficiency and margin analysis Systems & Process Improvement Optimize accounting systems (ERP, QBO, etc.) and workflows Drive automation and efficiency improvements Support implementation of new financial systems if needed Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred) 5-10+ years of progressive accounting experience Experience in manufacturing or product-based business strongly preferred Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting Experience with ERP systems and advanced Excel skills Proven leadership and team management experience Key Skills & Competencies Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Attention to detail with a high level of accuracy Leadership and team development Process-driven with a focus on continuous improvement Ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders What Success Looks Like Timely and accurate financial close every month Clean audit results with strong internal controls Improved visibility into cash flow and profitability Streamlined accounting processes and systems A high-performing, accountable accounting team
