We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Controller specialized in Heavy Highway and Civil Construction to lead our financial operations with precision and strategic insight. In this pivotal role, you will oversee all accounting functions, ensure compliance with industry standards, and provide critical financial analysis to support the company's growth and stability. Salary:
$80,000 - $100,000 DOE Comprehensive benefits package PTO 401k Duties Manage full-cycle accounting processes, including general ledger accounting, account reconciliation, and balance sheet reconciliation to ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles). Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, ensuring timely processing and adherence to company policies. Lead financial report writing, providing clear, comprehensive reports for internal stakeholders and regulatory agencies. Implement and maintain accounting software systems such as Sage 300, QuickBooks, and other financial management tools to streamline operations. Conduct financial analysis and forecasting to support budgeting efforts and strategic planning initiatives. Ensure regulatory reporting requirements are met accurately and on time, including governmental and non-profit accounting standards where applicable. Support payroll processing activities while ensuring compliance with applicable regulations. Lead initiatives for process improvements in technical accounting areas such as double-entry bookkeeping, account analysis, and account reconciliation. Skills Proficiency in accounting software including Sage 300, QuickBooks, and other financial management tools. Strong understanding of financial concepts such as cash management, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis. Expertise in account reconciliation processes—general ledger reconciliation, balance sheet reconciliation—and debits & credits management. Experience with a Construction firm
HIGHLY PREFERRED.
Experience with regulatory reporting requirements for public entities or government contracts. Excellent skills in financial report writing that clearly communicate complex data insights to diverse audiences. Ability to perform detailed account analysis with precision while maintaining high levels of accuracy under tight deadlines. Demonstrated capability in managing accounts payable/receivable workflows efficiently within a construction or heavy civil environment. Strong technical accounting skills, including payroll processing and internal control implementation. Exceptional financial acumen combined with proactive problem-solving abilities to optimize cash flow and financial health of the organization.
