Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Finance Director (fractional) to provide contract leadership for a healthcare-focused nonprofit organization in Honolulu, Hawaii. This role will concentrate on advancing critical financial priorities, including support for the fiscal year audit and resolution of outstanding audit-related deliverables that require deep technical accounting knowledge. The position is best suited for a senior finance leader who can bring structure, accuracy, and strong oversight to nonprofit financial operations in a contract capacity. Responsibilities:
  • Lead efforts to complete priority audit deliverables and coordinate the timely resolution of outstanding items with external auditors.
  • Oversee general ledger activity and verify that financial records are accurate, organized, and supported by appropriate documentation.
  • Direct month-end close activities, ensuring deadlines are met and financial results are prepared for leadership review.
  • Manage nonprofit fund accounting processes, including tracking restricted and unrestricted funds in alignment with reporting requirements.
  • Review grant-related financial activity and help ensure proper accounting treatment for federally funded programs and other funding sources.
  • Strengthen fiscal controls and financial reporting practices to support compliance, transparency, and sound decision-making.
  • Provide high-level guidance to internal finance support staff on complex accounting matters and audit preparation needs.
  • Prepare and analyze financial information for leadership, highlighting risks, variances, and areas requiring follow-up.
