Job Description

THE CLUB AT KUKUI'ULA CLUB CONTROLLER
Role Overview The Club Controller is a key leadership position and department head responsible for overseeing the financial operations of The Club at Kukui'ula and the Kukui'ula Community Association (KCA). In this role, you will manage budgeting, financial reporting, compliance, member account administration, insurance, licensing, and internal financial controls. Partnering closely with senior leadership and department managers, you will ensure accurate financial reporting, sound fiscal management, and adherence to regulatory and organizational requirements. The ideal candidate is a highly analytical, detail-oriented accounting professional with strong financial acumen, hospitality and/or association management experience, and the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization to support strategic decision-making through timely analysis and process improvement. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Management, or a related field (equivalent industry training and experience will be considered). Minimum of four (4) years of progressive accounting, preferably within private club, hospitality, hotels, resort or similar organizations. Proven experience preparing and managing budgets. Demonstrated experience analyzing financial statements and overall financial performance. Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience. Exceptional analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities. Strong written and verbal communication skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines. Requirements Advanced Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Proficiency in Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Absolute ability to maintain confidentiality and handle highly sensitive financial information. Ability to interpret complex financial data and provide actionable recommendations to leadership. Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams. Ability to ensure strict compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements. Ability to supervise staff, mentor team members, and manage departmental workflows. Ability to occasionally participate in physical inventory audits and operational reviews. Preferred Qualifications Experience in hospitality, private club, resort, homeowners' association (HOA), real estate, or property management accounting. Experience with membership billing and accounts receivable management. Specific knowledge of HOA accounting practices. Experience managing corporate insurance programs, audits, and tax filings. Familiarity with lease administration, contract compliance, and point-of-sale (POS) systems. Experience with Northstar software and Plate IQ platforms.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Financial Management & Reporting:
Develop and monitor annual budgets for the Club and KCA; facilitate monthly close processes and ensure timely financial statements; conduct financial reviews with leadership.
Accounting Operations:
Establish and improve internal controls; manage member accounts, investigate discrepancies, and coordinate collection efforts for delinquent accounts.
Compliance & Risk Management:
Manage organizational licenses and permits (including liquor licensing); coordinate annual tax return preparation; oversee insurance programs, renewals, certificates of insurance (COIs), and risk management audits.
Operational Support:
Partner with department leaders to ensure fiscal accountability; oversee retail inventory accounting and physical counts; administer Club and KCA lease agreements; serve as Co-Administrator for Northstar and Plate IQ.
Leadership & Supervision:
Directly supervise, mentor, and foster a collaborative environment for the Accounting Associate and provide financial guidance to department managers.
