Role Description:
The Controller role is a full-time, on-site position located in Dubuque, IA. The Controller will oversee the financial operations of the credit union, prepare and analyze financial statements, ensure regulatory compliance, and manage accounting processes. Responsibilities include handling budgeting and forecasting, monitoring financial performance, ensuring internal controls are implemented effectively, and providing financial insights to support strategic decisions. The role also involves supervising accounting staff and liaising with auditors and other stakeholders.
Qualifications :
Strong technical accounting skills, including proficiency in general ledger management, account reconciliation, and financial reporting. Experience in budgeting, forecasting, and analyzing financial data to support strategic planning. Knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements and internal controls. Leadership and team management skills, with the ability to oversee and mentor accounting staff. Proficiency with accounting software and advanced skills in Microsoft Excel. Exceptional attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving abilities. Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with stakeholders. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, with CPA or CMA certification preferred. Previous experience within the banking or credit union industry is a plus.
