This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounting professional looking to take the next step in their career while supporting an organization that makes a meaningful impact in the community. About the Role The Assistant Controller will play a key leadership role in overseeing day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, grant accounting, and compliance. Working closely with organizational leadership, this individual will help ensure financial accuracy, strengthen internal controls, support budgeting efforts, and maintain compliance with GAAP and non-profit accounting standards. The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and experienced with Sage Intacct or similar ERP systems. Key Responsibilities Assist in overseeing the organization's accounting operations, including general ledger maintenance, reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close. Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Support the development and maintenance of internal controls, accounting policies, and financial procedures. Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash management functions. Oversee grant accounting and fund tracking, ensuring proper allocation of restricted and unrestricted funds. Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning. Ensure compliance with GAAP, non-profit accounting standards, and reporting requirements. Utilize Sage Intacct to manage financial reporting and accounting processes. Coordinate audit preparation and support annual financial statement audits and tax filings. Identify opportunities for process improvements and operational efficiencies. Partner with leadership on financial analysis and strategic decision-making. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within a non-profit environment. Prior experience as a Senior Accountant, Accounting Manager, Assistant Controller, or similar role. Strong knowledge of GAAP and non-profit accounting principles. Experience with grant accounting, fund accounting, and financial reporting. Proficiency with Sage Intacct or similar accounting software. Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across departments. Why Join?
