JOB OVERVIEW
The Controller / Comptroller will be responsible for managing the company's day-to-day accounting operations while also supporting ownership with financial reporting, banking relationships, cash flow management, lender compliance, tax preparation support, and property-level accounting. This role requires someone who is extremely organized, deadline-driven, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple bank accounts, loans, credit cards, vendors, ownership entities, and reporting requirements at the same time. The ideal candidate is a hands-on accounting professional who enjoys owning the full accounting cycle, managing details, meeting deadlines, and keeping financial operations organized. This person should be comfortable working in a fast-moving, entrepreneurial real estate environment where priorities may shift, and accuracy is critical.
ABOUT US
We're a locally owned real estate development and property-owned management company with a portfolio that includes multifamily communities, commercial properties, retail spaces, hospitality-related assets, and multiple related business entities. We are seeking a highly experienced Controller / Comptroller to oversee accounting, cash management, payroll, financial reporting, lender reporting, tax coordination, and real estate accounting functions across multiple entities.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
5+ years of progressive accounting experience. Strong experience with multi-entity accounting. Strong bank reconciliation, credit card reconciliation, AP, payroll, and financial reporting experience. Advanced Excel skills. Ability to manage complex recurring deadlines. High attention to detail and strong follow-through. Ability to work independently and communicate clearly with ownership, lenders, vendors, CPAs, and property management teams. Experience handling confidential financial information.
Highly Preferred:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA or CPA candidate preferred, but not required. Real estate, property management, commercial property, or investment accounting experience. Experience with Buildium, Entrata, or similar property management/accounting systems. Experience with CAM reconciliations, lender reporting, loan tracking, and intercompany accounting. Experience working with outside CPAs, lenders, and third-party property managers.
