As we continue our rapid growth, we're seeking an experienced Controller to build scalable financial processes, lead our accounting team, and provide strategic financial leadership. This is a high-impact leadership position for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and enjoys building systems that support significant growth. Position Summary The Controller is responsible for overseeing all accounting operations, financial reporting, cash management, internal controls, and compliance for the company. This individual will work directly with executive leadership to provide accurate financial information, improve operational efficiency, and ensure financial integrity across the organization. Experience with construction accounting and percentage-of-completion (WIP) accounting is essential. Responsibilities Lead all day-to-day accounting operations Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes Prepare accurate financial statements in accordance with GAAP Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger Manage Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules and percentage-of-completion accounting Monitor cash flow, forecasting, and banking relationships Develop annual budgets and financial forecasts Prepare executive financial reporting and KPI dashboards Maintain and improve internal controls and accounting procedures Coordinate annual audits, tax preparation, and outside CPA relationships Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local reporting requirements Support government contract compliance, including FAR and DCAA requirements when applicable Manage accounting software and continuously improve financial systems Lead, mentor, and develop accounting staff Partner with operations to improve profitability and project financial performance QualificationsRequired Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance 8+ years of progressive accounting experience 5+ years in a Controller or senior accounting leadership role Construction industry accounting experience Strong understanding of: Work-in-Progress (WIP) accounting Percentage-of-completion revenue recognition Job costing General ledger accounting Cash flow management Experience producing GAAP-compliant financial statements Advanced Microsoft Excel skills Excellent organizational and leadership abilities Strong communication skills with executives and operations leaders Preferred CPA designation Experience with government contracting Experience with healthcare construction projects Familiarity with Sage Intacct, Sage 300 CRE, Foundation, Viewpoint Vista, or similar ERP systems Experience managing multi-million-dollar project portfolios Knowledge of federal contracting, prevailing wage, and DCAA compliance What Success Looks Like The successful candidate will: Deliver timely and accurate monthly financial statements Improve cash flow forecasting and reporting Strengthen internal controls Build scalable accounting processes that support rapid growth Serve as a trusted financial advisor to executive leadership Help maximize profitability across every project Compensation & Benefits MGI offers a competitive compensation package that may include: Competitive base salary Performance-based bonus opportunity Health, dental, and vision insurance 401(k) with company match Paid Time Off Paid Holidays Professional development opportunities Leadership growth within one of the nation's fastest-growing healthcare contractors Why Join MGI?
