The Assistant Controller is a key member of the finance team and supports the overall accounting operations for Cobalt Truck Equipment. This role assists with financial reporting, month-end close, budgeting, compliance, and internal controls. The Assistant Controller helps oversee day-to-day accounting functions, supports the development of staff, and partners with leadership to ensure accurate financial information and efficient processes. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Assist in preparing timely and accurate financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports. Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing activities. Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling. Analyze financial data to identify variances and support decision making. Oversee daily accounting activities including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll review, and general ledger functions. Maintain and improve internal controls, accounting procedures, and financial documentation. Assist with job costing, inventory tracking, and margin analysis. Prepare and review account reconciliations and ensure accuracy of financial data. Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies. Support external audit preparation and respond to auditor requests. Help maintain records, documentation, and financial files in accordance with regulatory standards. Provide guidance, training, and support to accounting staff. Review teamwork for accuracy and completeness. Assist the Controller and senior management with special projects and process improvements. Collaborate with operations, sales, and HR to support cross functional financial needs. Support ERP/accounting system improvements and report development. Other duties as needed Minimum Requirements 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience, including responsibility for general ledger and financial reporting. 2-3 years of experience in a senior accountant or Assistant Controller level role preferred. Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required. Strong understanding of GAAP and internal controls. Experience in manufacturing, fabrication, automotive, or equipment industries preferred. Proficiency with ERP systems; experience in job costing environments is highly beneficial. Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical ability. Demonstrated accuracy, attention to detail, and process improvement skills. Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across departments. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Monday through Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm. Regular collaboration with operations, sales, and shop leadership is required. Extended hours may be necessary during reporting periods.
