About Us:
We are a leading union electrical contractor specializing in large-scale commercial construction projects.
Position Overview:
The Controller will play a key leadership role in overseeing the company's financial operations, ensuring compliance with accounting principles, implementing financial controls, and driving efficiency across the organization. This individual will lead the accounting team, manage financial reporting, and support strategic decision-making to ensure the company's continued growth and financial stability.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee all accounting functions, including general ledger, job cost, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, insurance and tax compliance. Preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements. Implement and maintain internal controls. Monitor cash flow, working capital, and banking relationships. Develop financial forecasts, budgets, and variance analysis to guide company performance. Collaborate with project managers and operations teams to ensure accurate job costing and profitability analysis. Monitor and maintain WIP schedule. Maintain compliance with all tax regulations and industry-specific financial requirements. Manage external audits and work with auditors to ensure financial transparency. Oversee compliance with labor agreements and union benefit fund reporting. Lead and mentor the accounting team, fostering a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement. Develop and implement structured accounting processes to improve efficiency and accuracy.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required. CPA, CMA, or equivalent credential preferred. Experience in construction accounting, preferably in electrical contracting or a similar trade. Proficiency with construction ERP systems (e.g., Vista or similar). Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Strong leadership skills with experience managing teams. Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Pay:
$180,000.00 - $220,000.00 per year
