Job Description

Job Overview SC Bodner Company is seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to join our team at our corporate office in Carmel, IN. The Assistant Controller will support the financial operations of our property management division by assisting with the preparation and analysis of financial statements, overseeing accounting functions, and ensuring compliance with financial policies and regulations. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with a strong background in accounting and a passion for property management.
Key Responsibilities Financial Reporting:
Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for property management operations. Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial reports.
Construction Draws:
Monthly draw payment application for each project for
MBA Construction General Ledger Management:
Oversee and manage the general ledger, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and adjustments.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
Collaborate with the Controller and Director of Property Management to develop and monitor budgets and financial forecasts.
Internal Controls:
Assist in implementing and maintaining internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures.
Audit Support:
Coordinate and support internal and external audits. Prepare necessary documentation and respond to auditor inquiries.
Financial Analysis:
Conduct financial analysis and provide insights to support decision-making. Analyze property performance and identify areas for improvement.
Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations affecting property management and financial reporting.
Team Collaboration:
Work closely with the finance team and property management staff to address financial issues and streamline processes.
Special Projects:
Participate in special projects and initiatives as needed, including system upgrades, process improvements, and financial system implementations. Also, assisting with subsidiary companies as needed. Construction Draws for
MBA Construction Qualifications:
Experience:
Minimum of 3-5 years of accounting experience, with a focus on property management or real estate accounting preferred.
Skills:
Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and property management systems such as RealPage or Procore. Proficiency in accounting software (Quick Books)
Analytical Abilities:
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to interpret financial data and provide actionable insights. Attention to

High level of accuracy and attention to detail in financial reporting and analysis.
Communication:
Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to effectively interact with internal and external stakeholders.
Organizational Skills:
Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
