- Full-time Accounting Controller Job Description A local construction company is in search of an accounting manager/controller to manage small accounting department and various financial reporting and preparation of financial statements.
Responsibilities:
- Lead accounting department,
- Prepare month-end close including account analysis, journal entries, various reconciliations and financial statements preparation;
- Monitor and manage the organization's external banking, accounting and auditor relationships;
- Prepare monthly union reports;
- Prepare monthly sales tax returns and filings;
- Prepare federal and multi-state payroll tax returns;
- Assist with invoicing customer contracts on jobs;
- Monitor debt levels and compliance with debt covenants, oversee debt facilities, loan agreements, and loan contract management;
- Maintain renewals of company insurance policies;
- Manage and support the budgeting and forecasting process;
- Keep up-to-date communication regarding the company's financial position with the President and maintain monthly updates;
- Oversee ESOP operations, 401k plan payments, and company match.
- Salary commensurate with experience.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or higher;
- Accounting experience in controller position of 2+ years;
- Public accounting experience helpful but not required, will be considered in lieu of controller's experience;
- Knowledge of Sage/Peachtree helpful but not required;
- Ability to work autonomously and be part of a team;
- Ability to form strong relationships with internal and external parties;
- Intermediate computer software skills, and ability to learn new technologies as they develop;
- Highly self-motivated with the ability to multi-task;
- Deadline-oriented with the ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
