Job Description

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Under the direction of the President & CEO, and in accordance with the Christian mission and purpose of the YMCA of Southwestern Indiana, the Vice President of Finance is responsible for overseeing all financial matters, investments, and insurance programs. The Vice President of Finance provides strategic direction and leadership for YMCA business operations and initiatives of the Association. The Vice President of Finance also recommends related policies and ensures their implementation.
Qualifications:
The Vice President of Finance will bring a balance of servant leadership and strong management /compliance acumen; balancing strong relationships with managing expectations that reflect effective financial and fiduciary performance by the staff and Board of Directors. Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, finance or related field; Certified Public Accountant (CPA) &/or Master's Degree in Business Administration preferred 5+ years of progressive finance/accounting leadership experience in an organization with multiple revenue streams and operations units. Strong knowledge and understanding of general business matters required including budget development, financial reporting, accrual based accounting, cash management, business taxes, banking, debt, investments, and financing instruments. Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel with advanced abilities and knowledge of computerized accounting systems. Ability to effectively communicate orally, present information, and respond to questions from groups of staff, volunteers, members, and the general public. Demonstrated ability to supervise and support the work of others. Possess high level of integrity and ability to use good judgment and discretion in handling sensitive and confidential information. Proven collaboration and communication skills with ability to build and maintain strong business relationships with volunteers, staff at all levels of the organization and external partners/vendors. Previous experience with voluntary/nonprofit organization.
