Job Description

Are you a relationship-driven mortgage professional with a passion for delivering exceptional client service? The National Bank of Indianapolis is seeking an Assistant Vice President & Mortgage Banker to serve as a trusted advisor to Private Banking and Banking Center clients throughout the mortgage process. In this role, you'll guide clients from pre-qualification through closing, providing expert recommendations, coordinating the lending process, and delivering a seamless, high-touch client experience. What You'll Do Partner with Bankers to understand client goals and recommend mortgage solutions tailored to their financial needs Serve as the primary point of contact throughout the mortgage process, from application through closing Interview applicants, gather financial information, and enter loan data into the loan origination system Order and review credit reports and automated underwriting findings Prepare and deliver required disclosures and communicate loan terms and conditions clearly and professionally Analyze and verify income, including self-employment income, assets, and supporting documentation in accordance with underwriting guidelines Coordinate processing of conventional, jumbo, and portfolio loans while managing conditions through closing Complete final loan file reviews and recommend approvals within lending authority Provide guidance and credit counseling to applicants who do not qualify Stay informed on mortgage industry trends, interest rates, and real estate market developments Collaborate with internal teams to deliver an exceptional client experience Represent the Bank in community, civic, and professional organizations Ensure compliance with all banking regulations and Bank policies What We're Looking For Bachelor's degree or equivalent industry experience required Minimum of 5 years of residential mortgage lending experience Strong knowledge of conventional, jumbo, and portfolio mortgage products Familiarity with secondary market underwriting guidelines and automated underwriting systems (DU) Experience with mortgage lending platforms; Encompass experience preferred Strong analytical and financial assessment skills Excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service abilities Professional presence with the ability to build trusted client relationships Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
