  • Full-time CRU Construction is seeking an experienced Controller to lead accounting and finance operations at our Muncie, IN office.
This role oversees financial reporting, budgeting, cash flow, and compliance with construction accounting standards. The Controller partners with leadership and project managers to provide actionable financial insights, strengthen internal controls, and support informed decision-making. This position also plays a key role in process improvement, ERP oversight, and developing a high-performing accounting team. This position offers strong opportunities for leadership development and career growth and will include the following responsibilities. Oversee GL, AP, AR, payroll, and fixed assets, ensuring accurate job costing and tracking project-level profitability. Prepare monthly close, financial statements, and Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules to analyze job margins and financial performance. Develop, monitor, and report on project budgets and company-wide cash flow forecasts. Manage subcontractor prequalification, lien waivers, contract compliance, and insurance requirements. Implement ERP technologies and internal controls to streamline workflows and improve efficiency. Communicate and engage with 3rd party services for payroll and state compliance. Education and Experience Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance; CPA preferred but not required 6+ years of experience in accounting/finance, primarily in construction or industrial services. Deep understanding of construction accounting, WIP reporting, and revenue recognition. Demonstrated leadership, accountability, and problem-solving skills. Significant accounting knowledge to make informed business decisions. Must be able to take initiative and formulate a course of action to accomplish goals Must be adaptable and flexible in dealing with a variety of people and situations The key physical requirements of this position include the ability to lift up to 20 pounds, use standard office equipment, and move within a standard office, which may involve navigating stairs. The position requires occasional local travel for company business, the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and strong sensory skills, such as good eyesight, hearing, and dexterity.
